Awesome Video With the D5100, August 21, 2011 By Joseph W. Snaps right on my Nikon D5100 without a problem, and only works in full manual mode. Live View is functional, and video shot with this lens is seriously superb. The depth of field is delicious, and the sharpness is sharper than any other lens I have ever used on any camera. Shipped quickly, and though dusty out of the box, it cleaned right up with q-tips and alcohol. Size and weight are super minimal, too, it actually makes the D5100 pocketable in a larger cargo pocket, albeit a bit bulkily. Overall, I'd highly recommend this camera not only for portrait shooters, but videographers as well. I'll be having lots of fun with this lens for a very long time.

Works perfect on my d3100, in manual mode obviously. It is manual focus, so it adds a little bit of a challenge on a lens with such great depth of field. But then again, I've just been spoiled with auto focus for too long. It is great for portraits! I find that the focal length is a little awkward to use for skateboarding shots, but when you can find the angle the results are great. I will forever recommend this lens

It is considered as on of the cheaper pancakes. After doing some research I found out that this particular lens is underrated. I decided to try it out and was not disappointed. It gives really good tack sharp images. I have not noticed any pincushion effects. Great little lens. I use 70 percent of the time.
